About Dewmonic Abyss

My interest in pursuing YouTube began on Jun 14, 2011. I was only eleven years old when I started working on Lolost—a Roblox show made by a group of kids with insane imaginations, but zero idea what we were doing.

I'd eventually create the Dewmonic Abyss channel on May 23, 2016. My initial dream was to become a lawyer, heavily inspired by Phoenix Wright, so I wanted to do a commentary channel to get comfortable speaking in front of an audience. The channel poked fun at cringe, did a few indie Let's Plays, and eventually I got my first big break on Nov 16, 2017, when I came across the Bottom of YouTube—a community founded by Camo Dave (RIP).

I came across a Lou Skunt video on Reddit Cringe where Lou was standing in his laundry room, cutting a WWE-style promo challenging another YouTuber, Mark Fun Jones, to a fight. I reacted to the video, and this got the attention of Camo Dave, the BOYT, and even Jacob the Carpetbagger, who had been feuding with Lou at the time.​ This, funny enough, resulted in Carpetbagger promoting my channel, unknowingly giving attention to someone who would later become one of his most infamous detractors. lol

On Feb 23, 2019, I published a video titled Intervention - Carpetbagger. Carpetbagger had filed copyright strikes against a parody channel, Bad Connection, and would publicly blast Aaron of Passing Through Productions and The Swedes on his Facebook page.

My video called out Jacob's unhealthy obsession with his critics, what I saw as his weaponization of the DMCA system, and the doxxing he'd engaged in against Lou and various other Bottom of YouTubers. Carpetbagger responded by saying I had no idea what I was talking about and would later pretend to have zero idea who I was—until an inevitable drunken meltdown in Key West.

Later that year, on April Fools' Day, Aaron Fechter—creator of the Rock-afire Explosion—announced a partnership with Jacob the Carpetbagger to sell plush Carpetbagger Dolls. These dolls were designed by CavitySam, sold for over a hundred dollars, and Aaron marketed them as "Good Luck Dolls" to take with you on the road while traveling.

Naturally, I attempted to get my hands on one of the dolls for trolling purposes.

Aaron, loyal to the partnership, barred any of Carpetbagger's critics, trolls, and enemies from doing business with him.

I would eventually release The Sinister Side of Aaron Fechter (and the TRUTH Behind the Carpetbagger Dolls) on Feb 3, 2020. This was the first major commentary video to focus on Aaron Fechter and criticized both the Carpetbagger partnership and a number of other publicly voiced concerns within the Rock-afire Explosion fandom.

Aaron referred to me as "Eyepatch," and the nickname affectionately stuck throughout the community.

The Good Luck Dolls turned out to be anything but good luck, however, and Carpetbagger would eventually betray Aaron's trust by filming and promoting a competitor Aaron had been involved in an active legal battle with.

Aaron and I would eventually bury the hatchet and even become friends, with Aaron citing our battle as something that helped him reflect on and change his approach to online criticism.

In a pretty fitting conclusion to the whole story, Aaron generously sent me a Carpetbagger Doll for free—the exact doll I'd originally been barred from buying—which I unboxed in a video on May 29, 2021.

Aaron comedically dubbed the dolls the "Bad Luck Dolls" and pointed out the unfortunate timing of their creation with the COVID-19 pandemic.​

On January 2, 2024, I attended boot camp at Naval Station Great Lakes and became a Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy. I was a distinguished military graduate and was meritoriously promoted to Petty Officer Third Class.
